The Metal in Motion website was built to be accessible and readable for
everyone, including people with disabilities. This page sets out what has actually been
done, what has not been done yet, and how to reach us if you run into difficulty.
Level of accessibility
The site has been adapted to the requirements of Israel’s Equal Rights for Persons
with Disabilities (Service Accessibility Adjustments) Regulations, 2013, and to the
WCAG 2.1 guidelines at level AA, on which Israeli Standard 5568 is based. Every page of
the site was tested, on desktop and on mobile, with the automated testing tool axe-core
against the WCAG 2.1 level A and AA rules — and no failures were found.
The accessibility menu
In the bottom-left corner of every page there is an accessibility button. It opens a
menu in which you can adjust the display to your needs, and the settings are saved in
your browser for your next visit:
- larger and smaller text, a readable font, font weight, line height and letter spacing;
- text alignment;
- light contrast, high contrast and grayscale display;
- highlighting of links, of headings and of all clickable elements;
- a reading line and a reading mask;
- a large cursor, hiding images and stopping animations;
- highlighted keyboard navigation and skip to content.
What else has been done
- Semantic structure: one main heading on each page and an orderly heading hierarchy.
- Text color contrast meets a ratio of at least 4.5:1 against the background, including small text.
- The whole site can be navigated by keyboard, including opening a work in the gallery and the frequently asked questions, and there is a “skip to content” link at the top of every page.
- Images of the works have alternative text with the name of the work.
- Buttons and links with no visible text carry a text label for screen readers.
- Each edition of the site declares its language and direction — Hebrew, right-to-left; English, left-to-right — so screen readers read it correctly.
- If you have set a reduced-motion preference in your operating system, the animations on the site are switched off for you.
- The site is adapted to phones, tablets and wide screens.
What has not been completed yet
- No comprehensive manual audit has been carried out by an external licensed accessibility
consultant. Automated testing does not cover every requirement of the standard, so some
components may not be fully accessible. - The videos on the site (the studio film and the Channel 13 interview) are shown without
captions, and the interview is in Hebrew. - The cookie banner and the map on the Contact page come from external providers, and our
control over their accessibility is limited.
